International Inner Wheel Club President visited Mauritius in May 2017
Visit of International Inner Wheel President
The President of the International Inner Wheel Clubs visited Mauritius in the first week of May 2017 and she was hosted jointly by the Inner Wheel Club of Curepipe and Quatre-Bornes. Mrs Oluyemesi Alatise of Lagos, Nigeria made history as the first African to be installed as President of International Inner Wheel. She was accompanied by Mrs Adejumoke Odulaja, the International Service Organiser and Mrs Yimka Ayanwale, the District Chairman.
The theme chosen for her tenure in office is ‘Touch A Heart’, which as the President explained, is derived from the Inner Wheel object to promote the ideal of service, that is kindness, generosity and willingness to help. Touch A Heart teaches everyone to ask themselves at all times “What can I do to help”.
President Alatise and the two-member delegation was our Club guest speaker on Thursday 04 May. She spoke on the role and the works of Inner Wheel Clubs especially in the present context when women can join Rotary as members. However she pointed out that Inner Wheel has its own specificity and ‘raison d’être’ where women bring a special touch to each project.
The meeting ended with fellowship over dinner at the Shangrilla restaurant in Curepipe.
